What Eleanor Did For Women
Eleanor Roosevelt did so much for the women of the United States. She encouraged women to take up industrial jobs, held regular press meetings where she would speak her mind about women's rights, and she over all created higher expectations for women.
Eleanor Roosevelt's inspiration to become a feminist all began when her husband won the presidential election of 1933 and she became the first lady of the United States. At first, Eleanor was upset about having to be the first lady because she knew from previous first ladies that they were treated with low expectations and didn't have to do anything except for host parties and political gatherings.
Since Eleanor wanted to have higher expectations for herself as well as other women, she decided to take part in her husband's jobs and duties. She attended and spoke at national conferences, wrote news paper columns, and was the first woman to hold regular press meetings where only women could attend so men would be obligated to hire them for their news papers.
Eleanor also attended lots of rallies for women and became the symbol of hope all around the U.S.
What Resulted From Her Actions
Eleanor did so much for the women of America and in the process became the ultimate public figure for women to look up to all around the U.S.
Many positive things resulted from Eleanor's actions. After she started have press conferences for women only, men began hiring women to write stories in their magazines and news papers just as she hoped they would.
Many women were inspired to rise up and do even more for the women's suffrage movement after what Eleanor did for society. Women started applying for job offers and even started to join the military and fight in world war 2.
